Seasonal Landfill Labourer

Loraas Disposal North Ltd. is looking for a motivated individual to join their team as a Seasonal Labourer at our Loraas Landfill site near Martensville. This contract position will run until October 29th, 2021, and hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Duties: 

  • A variety of labour and light equipment operation duties, including grounds maintenance (mowing with various equipment, cleaning up wind-blown litter, manually or with self-propelled fan-collection unit, tree watering etc.) and cleaning of equipment with high-pressure wash.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be in good physical condition
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience operating equipment is considered an asset

Welder

Duties: 

  • Primary duties: repair and maintenance of containers for handling waste & recyclables.
  • Secondary duties: fabrication and repair of equipment for handling waste & recyclables.

Qualifications:

  • Welding experience required – Stick, MIG, fab and repair work
  • Entry level to 2nd year apprentice
  • Experience with equipment operation – loaders, forklifts, crane booms, etc. is an asset but training can be provided if needed
  • Familiar with plasma cutters, oxy acetylene cutting, presses, grinders, chop saws, and other equipment

Loraas Disposal North is currently looking to fill the position of Customer Service Representative. Reporting to the Sales Manager, this individual is responsible for providing professional, courteous customer service predominantly via telephone and email.

Duties:

  • Answer telephone, inquire about the nature of business and direct them to the appropriate person
  • Relay calls and messages
  • Schedule call-ins
  • Complete supporting paperwork and data entry as required
  • Process incoming mail, emails, text messages, faxes and redirect where necessary

  • Training for and operation of Front-end, Roll-Off, or Side-Load waste and recycling collection equipment as a full-time operator, training on equipment is provided
  • Coordination with fellow operators and employees within other departments to ensure maximum efficiency in daily operations.

Landfill Equipment Operator

The Loraas Landfill, located just outside Martensville, is seeking a permanent full-time equipment operator to join its team in our Landfill Operations. Equipment to be operated includes compactors, loaders, excavators, dozers, rock trucks, graders, shredders and grinders, and more.

Duties:

  • Operate equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and policies according to company Safety Manual and OH&S Regulations.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks and report any issues or items of concern found.
  • Clean heavy equipment as scheduled or required.
  • Directing traffic in and around the material delivery areas.

Class 3A/1A Driver – Roll Off & Front End

General Duties: 

  • Training for and driving of tandem axle Roll Off & Front End trucks as a full-time driver
  • Communicate with fellow employees in person and via two-way radio to plan calls, problem solve, and meet customer needs
  • Container and equipment cleaning and repairs, buildings and facilities work, and other duties as assigned when not operating truck
  • Adherence to company, and customer, site safety policies and procedures
  • Hours of work starting as early as 4:00am and operating up to a maximum of 13 hours per day

Physical Aspects:

  • Climbing in and out of truck multiple times throughout day
  • Operation of equipment on various road surfaces (paved, gravel, dirt, etc.)
  • Shoveling interior of containers to ensure frozen or compact material is emptied
  • Utilizing hand tarps and straps to ensure load security regulations are met
  • Exposure to dust, mud, smells, rodents, birds, heat and cold at various points throughout day/year

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Class 3A license required with clear abstract
  • Strong knowledge of Saskatoon and surrounding area
