Class 3A/1A Driver

Duties: 

  • Training for and operation of Front-End, Roll-Off, or Side-Load waste and recycling collection equipment as a Full Time Operator; training on equipment is provided.
  • Coordination with fellow operators and employees within other departments to ensure maximum efficiency in daily operations.
  • Delivery of exceptional customer service to co-workers and customers in accordance with company expectations.
  • Container maintenance, equipment maintenance, buildings and facilities work, and other duties as requested, when additional drivers aren’t required.
  • Adherence to company, and customer, site safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Class 3A license required (1A preferred) with clear abstract (submit with resume)
  • Strong knowledge of Saskatoon and surrounding area
  • Minimum 3 years commercial driving experience- short haul/ city experience preferred
  • Hydraulic equipment experience, and/or farm background an asset
  • Dispatch experience considered an asset
  • Able to work both in a team environment and unsupervised
  • Excellent logistical and organizational skills
  • Good communication skills

Recycle Sorter

  • Sorting and baling of various recyclable materials
  • General housekeeping duties related to the warehouse

Part Time Junior Safety Officer (6 Month Term)

Loraas Disposal Services is currently looking to fill the part time position of Junior Safety Officer. Reporting to the HR Manager, this individual is responsible for providing assistance to our current safety personnel to ensure health and safety requirements are met throughout the organization. This is a six month term position with the possibility of extension based on performance and organization demand.

Duties:

  • Assist in promoting an active health and safety culture;
  • Tracking / auditing inspections;
  • Performing orientations for new hires and contractors on site our sites as needed;
  • Assist in implementing our health and safety management systems and contribute to its continuous enhancement;
  • Booking and tracking safety training;
  • Assisting with investigations, corrective actions and follow up;
  • Promote effective communication and dissemination of relevant health and safety information;
  • General Data entry;
  • Attendance of OHC and other meetings;
  • Keep abreast of developments in health and safety legislation and practice;
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Degree or certificate in occupational safety and health or a similar discipline
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

Heavy Equipment Operator – Landfill

Duties:

  • Operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and policies according to company Safety Manual and OH&S Regulations.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks and report any issues or items of concern found.
  • Clean heavy equipment as scheduled or required.
  • Directing traffic in and around the material delivery areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience operating equipment
  • Certificate(s) in Heavy Equipment Operation an asset
  • General mechanical aptitude/experience in basic daily maintenance of heavy equipment required

  • A variety of labour and light equipment operation duties, including grounds maintenance (mowing with various equipment, cleaning up wind-blown litter, manually or with self-propelled fan-collection unit, etc.) and cleaning of equipment with high-pressure wash.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be in good physical condition
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience operating equipment is considered an asset
  • Minimum valid Class 5 driver’s license with acceptable abstract required.
