Let’s talk about landfills, and lettuce. How long does it take a head of lettuce to break down in a landfill
Answer: Approximately 25 years.
Organics recycling is important because when these materials break down in a landfill they create greenhouse gas emissions; leading to global warming. By composting, we not only save space and decrease waste to the landfill we also lower greenhouse gas emissions. Imagine how much food waste is going to the landfill every day, and how long all of that takes to break down, and how much gas it’s releasing in the process.
Now imagine there’s a way to take all of that organic waste and break it down into a useful form of soil in as little as 8-13 weeks with no GHG emissions? It’s possible in our new facility.
